It was originally designed for scrum teams. The sailboat retrospective is a retrospective technique where you and your agile team members will envision the last sprint as a sailboat. After picking one note, read it out loud and then spur a discussion with the group. Last week, in search of something new, I came across their Sailboat Retrospective. Then read the notes one by one in a given category and work your way around the board. It helps team members to identify what went right, what went wrong, and what improvements and changes can be made in the future. The Sailboat is a fun way of doing retrospectives by looking at your work as part of a sea journey. Have the team members individually write on post-it notes to fit into the respective categories, but have them wait posting them on the board until all participants are ready. What exactly is a Sailboat Retrospective The Sailboat technique for retrospectives is a fun, interactive, and low-key way for your team to reflect on a project. Wind represents something that pushes us forwards. With the retrospective tool evolving to be a daily tool that agile teams can use to manage complications regularly, its crucial to know the four elements. Anchor represents obstacles that have got in our way. A sailboat retro takes the following structure: Boat represents the team. Rocks – What impediments were in this sprint? The board is divided into three main parts: (1) introduction, (2) sailboat retro and (3) action items.Reef – What risks are out in the distance?.Engine – What do we keep doing the same?. Wind – What worked against us, what do we need less of?.Sun – What went well this last sprint, what do we need more of?.Also note to explain the diagram with the sentence descriptions. Each exercise uses tables and images to assess the positives and negatives of each project in easy-to-understand formats. Teams are encouraged to use a variety of different methods to keep the collaboration fresh and productive. There are many methods for running a retrospective. Much like the sailboat retrospective template, this Retrospective In the Island of Golocans template, created by software engineer and author Clyde D’Souza, gives your team a chance to look back at their work with a fun, nautical theme. The more the team evaluates their processes and acts on the improvements that need to be made, the better the output. Start by drawing the following speedboat diagram on the board and labeling with the underlined words.
